First Published on April 10 1991 COUNCIL reserves may have to be raided to foot the possible £400,000 legal bill resulting from court action in the wake of the 1985 Battle of the Beanfields clash between police and a Stonehenge peace convoy. The council's legal bill includes the £250,700 costs of the police's court defence half the cost of the travellers' legal expenses and £26,500 damages awarded to the travellers. Back to 1991 index |
