A SWINDON couple have evidence to back up claims which suggest that Stonehenge has been tempered with.

Reg and Joyce Bishop, from Penhill, have a postcard from 1903 which shows Stonehenge looking markedly different to how we know it today. Mrs Bishop, 73, said: 'Although the postcard is dated October 31, 1903 it might have been printed years before.

'The postcard looks tremendously different. It's just bits and pieces, it doesn't look like a complete circle.'

She said her husband, Reg, 78, found the postcard at an antiques fair and bought it for 25p.

It is postmarked Wigan and on the back it says: 'Thank you for the postcards, both are very pretty and interesting. I thought this a most interesting card.'

It has recently been reported that Stonehenge's 4,000 year old stone circle was recreated between 1901 and 1964.
