2 STONEHENGE, seen not as a temple but as the headquarters of a warrior society, kings and heroes, chiefs and serfs, living by war and pillage.

9 VOLUNTEERS are urgently needed to excavate a later Stone Age long barrow at Avebury Trusloe before the site is levelled at the end of the month.

15 NEW evidence to support the theory that Stonehenge was, after all, the product of Western knowledge, and not inspired by the Mycenaean world is put forward in the latest edition of the Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society's magazine.
