First published on April 11, 1968 CHIPPENHAM Town Labour Party is annoyed about the television programme on Silbury Hill being shown only on BBC2. The branch decided at its monthly meeting last night to complain to the BBC about showing a programme of local interest on BBC2 and making the matter worse by advertising it on BBC1. The programme was of great local interest and could well have been shown on BBC1 which was the only channel available to the area. The meeting also decided to write to Chippenham Town Council objecting to a notice that has been erected in Hardens Close forbidding the playing of games on the open grass-covered space on to which the houses face. It was felt that this could only lead to more danger to children as they would now have to play in the road. Back to 1968 index |
