September 2002 CROP circles have become the new advertising medium. Just weeks after Weetabix created an image in fields south of Swindon to mark its new campaign, the mobile phone company Orange has followed suit. This image, discovered in countryside between Swindon and Hungerford, has appeared as Orange launches a series of advertisements to plug its photo messaging service. The television advertisements feature images of faces appearing in various natural landscapes. Two images of a woman’s face have appeared in a field along the M4 corridor this week. Weetabix employed artists to create a crop circle in the shape of a plug earlier this year. The art forms are just two of several crop circles and designs to appear in fields around Swindon this year. But crop circle enthusiasts have just a few weeks to seek them out as harvesting is approaching. Back to 2002 index |
