WAREHOUSE worker Mike Kitching has a head start when it comes to corn circles.

The 26-year-old is teased by workmates that his ever-increasing bald patch is Wiltshire's original corn circle. But Mike was in a spin when he returned to his home in Swindon Road, Stratton, Swindon, after a week's holiday to discover two circles had appeared on his back lawn.

But they weren't caused by aliens, just a trio of practical jokers who work with him at Continental and Uniroyal Tyres on South Marston Industrial Estate. "This time I've been well and truly stitched up. Since all this business about corn circles has been reported I've never heard the end about my little bald patch," said Mike. Joker Nick Budgen said: "Mike is so sensitive about losing his hair that he sets himself up. I was looking after his house while he was away and together with a couple of mates we thought this would be a good laugh."

Nick, who teamed up with Andy Hubble and Graham Camburn, took an hour and used two lawn mowers, a trimmer and shears to achieve the finished product. "I don't know what the neighbours thought when they saw us frantically trying to get it done in time before Mike came home. At least he has the best part of his lawn already mowed!" said 43-year-old Graham. But Mike is not about to let the corny tale get the better of him. "I've got a few ideas of my own. They'll not get away with this," he said.
