First published on June 13, 1995 Circle experts to explore phenomena FANS of the supernatural in Wiltshire are being invited to attend a national conference on crop circles and UFOs. The organisers are particularly keen to attract people from this area, because of the frequency with which the obscure markings have been discovered in the county. "Wiltshire is the best place in the world for crop circles," said conference organiser Paul Anderson. The get-together will be held on July 22 at the Harwell Conference Centre near Didcot. Topping the bill are talks and films from Colin Andrews, "the world's number one expert on crop circles", and Reg Presley, former Troggs member and UFO fanatic. the conference is called Crop Circles, The Latest Evidence. "Crop circles are becoming more complicated. We believe they are a code and if they could be translated it would be great" said Paul, 30. "And we don't believe the circles are caused by aliens actually landing but by some kind of reaction between the Earth's energy and some outside energy." Paul also dismisses claims that all the circles are caused by hoaxers, even the hoaxers themselves acknowledge this, he says. So far this year there have been few good crop circles in Wiltshire but Paul puts this down to late crop development.
