First published on July 13, 1991 CORN circle spotters claim they have seen the electrified tubes of light believed to cause the strange shapes. Three people say they saw a milky white vortex beam down from the sky at Alton Barnes, near Marlborough, in the early hours of Friday. It is the site where circle formations have appeared this year and last year. Self-styled son of God David Icke visited it earlier this week. The light appeared at 3am for about six seconds, the spotters did not have time to film it. It divided shortly before reaching the earth and then either vanished completely or disappeared over the brow of a hill. At dawn the watchers searched for marks in the corn but there were none. Circles expert Dr Terence Meaden was excited by the sighting. He said it could prove his theory that the circles are caused by air vortexes. Now he is considering moving the site of his 24-hour circle watch, which is near Devizes. Back to 1991 index |
