published on July 24 2002 CROP circle enthusiasts can buy lasting mementos of the famous designs. Jill Dunley, of Devizes, has started a company called Taraka which designs and makes tea towels featuring intricate crop circle patterns. The tea towels are printed with eight of each year’s most extraordinary designs in three colours. Ms Dunely said: “We don’t need to solve the mystery of their purpose and method of construction to enjoy them as beautiful works of art in the landscape. Their intricate patterns are best seen from aerial photographs where the layering of the crop reflects sunlight to give wonderful three dimensional effects.” The interest in crop circles has been heightened recently with the production of two crop circle films ? The Sign starring Mel Gibson and A Place to Stay, a British production filmed in Wiltshire. Christopher Pearson, start-up advisor at Business Link Berkshire and Wiltshire, has been providing business start-up advice to Miss Dunley. He said: “Jill’s fascination for crop circles is truly reflected in the energy and dedication she has invested in her new business venture.” Ms Dunley is showing her tea towels at this weekend’s crop circle conference at Devizes School.
