Astronomers say the discovery of an ancient exploding star gave them a ‘Wayback Television Set’ which allowed them to watch an entire month of prehistory unfold in real time.
Researchers at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have found a 10billion year old supernova that’s exceptionally clear to scientific instruments.
They claim the supernova, nicknamed ‘Mingus’, is the most distant - and ancient - ever analysed, and that it has allowed them to review an entire month of the universe’s ancient past.
