‘Eggless’ chick

An ‘eggless’ chick has been born in Sri Lanka. In an unusual twist on the age-old question of which came first, the chicken or the egg; technically the chick did have an egg, but was kept inside the hen for the full 21 day period, after which the chick hatched inside the hen.

The chick was fully formed and healthy, but the hen died due to internal complications.
