First published on February 20, 1989 Watch out spooks, here's Paul A Ghostbusters-style research group armed with heat sensors, infrared cameras and video equipment is ready to go into action. They say many people in the Swindon area have experienced unexplained or supernatural happenings and they now want to investigate. The Borderland Phenomena Research Group is run by Paul Horwood from his home in Oaksey Road, Penhill, and has eight members. They are ready to investigate sightings of ghosts, unidentified flying objects, poltergeists or any other strange phenomena. Paul, who is a postman, runs the group on a voluntary basis. He said: "There are plenty of these sort of things happening and we want to research them and get some results. "Rumours are circulating about a UFO that was seen over Ashton Keynes and also another sighted over Pinehurst. "If anyone else has seen anything unusual in the skies recently then please contact me. "We will investigate the sightings and will create a full report on these with, hopefully, an eventual conclusion to the identification of the phenomena. "Most people are willing to talk about UFO's but when it comes to ghosts then people just seem to shut up. "A very frightened woman, who said her house was haunted, did call me but did not leave her name and never got in touch again. "The idea is to tell people we are here and hopefully they will come forward. "I have personally had a few poltergeist experiences. I was once sitting down in a friend's house and dolls on a shelf slowly moved. "Another time, while watching TV, a marker pen lifted itself into the air and went across the room. I was amazed."
