BUILT in 1330, Bewley Court was restored to its former glory by Oliver Ford, the Queen Mother's decorator.

Ford died in 1992 and his body was sealed in a lead casket and buried in the court altar.

His ghost has been spotted walking in the garden at twilight.

Legend states a nun was murdered in Bewley Court for using a secret tunnel linking the house to Lacock Abbey to meet her lover.

Her ghost has been seen wandering corridors searching for him.

Ghosts have been seen dancing in what was the Great Hall and it is reputed that a horse-drawn carriage leaves the court to travel across a long-forgotten road to Bewley Common.
