First published in November 30, 1995 Ghost is spooked by high spirits Noisy discos at a hotel near Swindon are driving a resident ghost mad. All hell breaks loose after the high class Chiseldon House Hotel hosts parties and functions. Objects are flung around and loud banging noises are heard throughout the building. But staff at the hotel are unfazed by the ghostly goings on. "None of us is particularly worried" said manager Jan Capaldi. "As far as we are concerned he is one of us." Since the hotel opened five years ago there have been sporadic outbursts of paranormal activity - pictures have been moved, the office photocopier has started by itself, items have been banged loudly in the kitchen, and telephones knocked off the hook. "One telephone even moved across the chest of one of our guests while he was lying in bed," said Jan. "We have come to the conclusion that if we have done something he doesn't approve of he will cause disruption." Jan believes she knows the identity of the Chiseldon House ghost, but isn't letting on. The ghost is in the AA's latest hotel guide, which includes a survey of haunted hostelries and comes to the conclusion that the South West is the spookiest region in the country Back to 1995 index |
